The Many Uses of the Wireless Network Camera

In the modern world there are many uses for photography and video and one of the most frequently used video devices is the wireless network camera.  Video cameras have been developed in numerous ways making them great for home and business security.  Security cameras can be set up indoors to monitor the occupants of a building or they can be set up outside near entrances or exits to keep track of who is accessing the building and to deter unauthorized parties from attempting entry.  Video cameras can even be installed in personal computers to allow the user to engage in video conferencing and video messaging.

In the security field alone there are a wide variety of network cameras on the market.  Among the first security cameras is the CCTV or closed circuit television camera which was first used in Germany in 1942 to observe the launch of V-2 rockets.  Now, CCTV camera products are used around the world for video surveillance.  Modern forms of the CCTV wireless network camera utilize digital video recorders or DVR which allows them to record years of video at a higher resolution and greater picture quality than ever before.  Another type of wireless network camera on the market is the IP or internet protocol camera.  When Axis Communications first developed the IP camera in 1996 they were only available with limited megapixel capability.  Now, however, the wireless IP camera can be purchased with high definition resolution up to 11 megapixels.

Both IP cameras and CCTV cameras can serve the purpose of a wireless security camera depending on where they are placed.  For example, the city of Chicago has a network of over 15,000 security cameras which monitor the safety of government agency buildings, public transportation vehicles, and train stations.  Many homeowners around the world also utilize the wireless network camera to add security to their home and surrounding property.  The presence of an outdoor wireless network camera can serve as a deterrent to would-be criminals and also allows for residents inside the house to monitor what is going on outside.

Another popular usage of the wireless network camera comes in the form of the wireless webcam.  All over the world computer users have webcams built directly into their PCs or they have purchased them separately.  Webcams serve several purposes as a wireless network camera in a computer – they allow users to capture video, to take pictures, to engage in video conferencing, even to protect the computer itself from theft.  Computer software exists on the market that links a PC webcam to motion- and sound-detecting devices that is set to record.  With this software installed, it is possible for a webcam to capture images of a burglar and email them out while the computer is being stolen, thus giving the police a clear picture of the burglar.

There have always been many uses for security cameras and only more purposes have been found since manufacturers have made the network camera wireless.  A wireless network camera can help homeowners and businesses to sleep soundly at night knowing that their property is being monitored.  Large corporations and even government organizations utilize the wireless network camera to ensure the safety of the public and everyday computer users benefit from wireless network camera technology through their own personal webcams.  Whether a homeowner or business or simply a computer user, an individual can benefit from the many features and services offered by wireless network camera.
